D’Arcy Johnson Law Firm Investigating Link Between Reglan And Tardive Dyskinesia
May 10, 2007
The D'Arcy Johnson Law Firm has initiated an investigation into links between Reglan (metoclopramide), a prescription medication used to treat gastroesophageal reflux (GER) and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in children and adults and Tardive Dyskinesia, a potentially permanent movement disorder.
The Food and Drug Administration has only approved Reglan for short term use (4 to 12 weeks) and only when conservative treatment has failed. However, many individuals are taking Reglan and the generic form, metoclopramide, for much longer periods of time.
Tardive Dyskinesia is a neurological disorder that consists of potentially irreversible, involuntary movements of the tongue, mouth, face, lips, and sometimes the arms, legs, and trunk. It is believed that the likelihood that the disorder will become irreversible may increase with the duration of Reglan use and the total cumulative dose.
If you or a loved one has developed Tardive Dyskinesia or related symptoms as a result of taking Reglan, see your doctor immediately for an evaluation.
Additionally, if you have been taking Reglan and believe you may have been injured as a result, you may contact the D’Arcy Johnson Law Firm toll free at 1-866-327-2952 and ask for a free consultation to learn about your legal rights.
