DJD Paralegal and Run DJD Rock Philly
On Sunday, September 16, 2012, D’Arcy Johnson Day paralegal, Rose DeJesus, ran her first half marathon in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as part of Run DJD.
After months of training and preparing for the Philadelphia Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon, Rose, along with twenty other runners from the Best Foot Forward Running Club were decked out in Run DJD gear. The group was among the twenty-two thousand people who finished the race. “It was the most overwhelming, rewarding feeling I’ve had in a long time. Seeing the look of amazement on the faces of scattered spectators as we ran by was so inspiring. Some were young children cheering on their parents and siblings, others were cheering on their grandparents! Some were cheering on runners who were running for a special cause. It gave me motivation to dig deep and keep going. In the end, Run DJD rocked Philly, putting our Best Foot Forward!”
Rose will be one of many participants running in the upcoming Atlantic City Half Marathon in October. Her goal is to beat her Philly Rock ‘n’ Roll time of 2:15:14. Her nine-year old daughter, Natalia Weeks, a member of Our Kids Run the Nation (a children’s running club under Best Foot Forward), will be running the Kids Fit Mile as a member. “I could not pass up running a half marathon in my own backyard. Team Run DJD is going to Do AC!”
