The Law Firm of D’Arcy Johnson Day is proud to announce a $600,000 settlement for one of its clients who was injured in a serious trip and fall incident. The settlement was reached by DJD partner Richard Albuquerque and took place only a month before trial.  Prior to the lawsuit being filed, there was no offer of settlement from the insurance company.

Pushing forward, Richard defeated a motion to throw out the entire lawsuit.  After winning that motion, Richard obtained a trial date from the Court and that is when the insurance company blinked and paid $600,000 to our client. ”It was very clear that they did not want to see us in court on this case,” said Richard.

This case exemplifies the type of aggressive preparation of the case through discovery, motion practice, and in preparation for trial for which DJD is known, and this preparation resulted in a significant settlement to the client under very difficult circumstances.
