Recently, the law firm of D’Arcy Johnson Day was proud to sponsor the 6th Annual Guns vs Hoses charity boxing event (also known as the Battle at the Basin) in Atlantic City, New Jersey. In addition to enjoying refreshments and shade from the sun in DJD’s tent, fans attending the event were able to meet and take pictures with legendary Philadelphia Flyers Dave “The Hammer” Shultz, and Bob “The Hound” Kelly, of the Broad Street Bullies.

Also spotted in the DJD tent was famous American boxing referee Steve Smoger who has been in charge of bouts involving Roy Jones Jr., Bernard Hopkins, Larry Holmes, James Toney, and Lennox Lewis.



The event was sanctioned by USA Boxing’s Middle Atlantic Association, and in addition to amateur fights, the event pitted firefighters against police officers to raise money for charity. This year, 60% of the proceeds went to support Gilda’s Club South Jersey & the Shirley Mae Breast Cancer Assistance Fund, and 40% to the Atlantic City Police Athletic League (PAL) Youth Programs.
